Projects > Development for Social Enterprise Advisers
Who for?
People employed as advisers, development workers, business development managers, local and community development workers and other roles which involve supporting or advising new, emerging or established social enterprises. This can include newly appointed trainee staff and more experienced workers interested in their own personal professional development. The programme is not open to public sector employees.
What level?
The programme is based on the SFEDI national occupational standards in social enterprise support and will lead to a VRQ (Vocationally-Related Qualification) at Level 5 issued by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
What’s involved?
There are three main parts to the programme: Personal Professional Development (PPD) and Understanding Social Enterprise (USE), plus a choice of one of three new social enterprise courses to be developed – Promoting Social Enterprise, Developing Social Enterprises and Sustaining Social Enterprises.
Time commitment
The full programme requires participants to attend 12 one-day workshops spread out over an eighteen month period from May 2006 to November 2007, and to complete a series of work-based assignments and projects as part of the ILM qualification assessments.
Where?
The workshops are being run at three locations across in the South East. A small fund is available to cover above average travel costs.
Costs
The programme is Co-financed by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the European Social Fund (ESF). Each participant’s employer is required to contribute £500 towards the cost. RAISE is offering full bursaries to 20 voluntary and community sector organisations, financed through ChangeUp.
